The Weser-Ems Astronomy Network (ANWE) was founded in 2022 by three universities and seven astronomical associations at the University of Oldenburg. This year, the network has expanded its expertise in the fields of gravitational physics, geosciences, and space travel and is welcoming eight new members.
“Together, we can achieve a great deal”
In addition to the University of Bremen, the new members of the network comprise the University of Applied Sciences Bremen (HSB), the Bremen branch of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and five astronomical associations in Bremen and the surrounding area. “We are delighted to welcome these new members,” commented ANWE coordinator Andreas Schwarz. “Together, we can achieve a great deal.”
The network’s activities range from joint observations and projects, the organization of courses and lectures, and the development of technology through to modern research in the ANWE’s specialist areas. “Our network facilitates a broad exchange of experience and knowledge between our members and the public,” says Andreas Schwarz. “We thus promote interest in astronomy and its further development, as well as in astrophysics, gravitational physics, geosciences, space sciences, and space research.”
